Faced with the problem of installing a large video wall in a south-facing window in direct sunlight, project system integrator, Interactive View turned to Elport EU for a 3 x 3 matrix display comprising 1000 Candela Ultra-brite 46” LCD-TFTs.
The screen is designed to promote Nike’s “Nike-id” concept which allows customers to design their own trainers and sports shoes.
Matt Bain, Account Director at AKQA was responsible for selecting equipment and the overall concept: “We knew from past experience that the location of the window, in direct sunlight and with multiple reflections from the stores opposite presented massive problems with viewability of the intended screen. Elport’s DZ-Wall is the only screen we have tried that can be seen under these adverse conditions. The display is viewable in all lighting conditions; at midday when the sun is overhead, through the afternoon and in the evening, with excellent clarity, which makes customers take notice and investigate the promotion.”
Lee Edwards, Managing Director of Elport UK said :”We developed our Ultira-Brite displays specifically for this type of project and it has worked beyond expectation at Niketown. It means that we can now deliver displays to any location, no matter how adverse the lighting conditions are.”
The success of this project shows a major breakthrough for in window advertising and proves that LCD can hold it’s own in direct sunlight as well as being flexible enough to be installed and operate with 600mm aperture depth.
